My name is Katie Miller, and I've been weaving for eighteen years. My family is originally from Asheville, NC and the surrounding area. Today I live near Atlanta in Decatur, GA, where I weave in a home studio.
I was trained in the Appalachian style of weaving and I'm interested in preserving this craft. While the beauty and versatility of the goods woven in this tradition is primarily what interests me, I've also studied traditional Southwestern American tapestry weaving in New Mexico. In addition, I've studied with Madelyn van der Hoogt at the Weaver's School on Whidbey Island, near Seattle Washington. I'm also a member of the Chattahoochee Handweavers Guild.
All items are handwoven on an 8 shaft Glimakra floor loom.
